  • Anti-wrinkle injections reduce the signs of ageing by smoothing out the appearance of wrinkles, helping our skin to appear clearer and more rested. This injectable treatment is one of the most popular treatments performed in our clinic and we are renowned as being the UK's leading clinic for natural-looking, tasteful injectables.

  • Botulinum toxin is a refined neurotoxin which, when injected locally into muscles of facial expression, causes muscular relaxation. When injected in small quantities into the muscles of facial expression, this can help reverse some of the changes in muscle dynamics associated with the development of fine lines and wrinkles, and brow heaviness. Following the injections, there is a lag period before the clinical effects appear - usually about 3-5 days, reaching the full effects by about day 10-14 post-treatment. Anti-wrinkle injections should never be done to completely eliminate facial expression but should be used to gently lift and open the eyes, reduce frown and forehead lines, and give a well-rested appearance. Botulinum toxin can also be used to relieve symptoms of conditions such as Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), teeth grinding (bruxism) and migraines. In our clinics, we have a policy that Botulinum toxin injections can only be performed by experienced, GMC registered doctors, with at least 5 years' postgraduate experience.

  • Expertly administered anti-wrinkle injections help to reverse the changes in facial muscle dynamics associated with fine lines and wrinkles, whilst still allowing movement and expression and maintaing a natural look. It is particularly effective for lines on the forehead, around the eyes, frown lines, the neck and to lift the brow.

  • Botulinum toxin Injections are used mainly for smoothing the fine lines on the face, particularly the foreheard, between the brows, and around the eyes but can also be used for the neck. This treatment can also be used to relieve the symptoms of hyperhidrosis when injected into areas of excessive sweating and for teeth grinding when injected into the masseter muscles in the jaw. It may also be used as an alternative to lip filler to give the appearance of a fuller lip and to reduce facial sweating. Botulinum toxin can also be used to give a 'non-surgical brow lift' but relaxing the downward pulling depressor muscles of the face.

  • Anti-Wrinkle Injections can be safely used alongside all of our other treatments in clinic. They work especially well with our other injectables such as Dermal Fillers, as well as our less invasive treatments such as the Egyptian Facial.

To improve the skin quality and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by increasing dermal thickness, treatments such as Morpheus8, Profhilo and Nucleofill are especially well suited in conjunction with Anti-Wrinkle Injections.

  • There is virtually no downtime,Injection points may be slightly red or raised immediately after the treatment but these usually subside within a few minutes. With any injectables there is a small risk of bruising around the injection sites. To reduce the risk of bruising we suggest that you avoid omega-3 fatty acid supplements, blood thinners and alcohol for 48 hours prior to your injectable treatments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • We prefer to perform conservative dosing particularly with new clients to ensure a natural result from our treatments. This sometimes means that an additional dose may be required following the first treatment. Additional dosing would be performed as a complimentary 'top up' between 2-4 weeks' post treatment.

  • We pride ourselves as being clinic for natural-looking results so you should never look 'done' following a treatment at our clinics. Instead, you should look like a more rested, fresher version of yourself. We never try to obliterate facial expressions through use of Botulinum toxin, and our practitioners have been trained in HIGHER POWER’S approach to facial injectables to ensure that our patients look the very best version of themselves.

  • Anti-wrinkle injections are generally not painful. We often will use a topical local anaesthetic treatment prior to injecting to ensure that the injections are as comfortable as possible.

  • Anti-wrinkle injections are a particularly low risk treatment. Indeed, it has been used for over 30 years for cosmetic purposes. Risks of injection include immediate risks of swelling and redness, which usually resolve within a few minutes. Sometimes bruising may occur at the site of injection. If you are someone who bruises generally then please inform your practitioner of this. Occasionally some patients may experience a headache after the treatment, and more rarely flu-like symptoms. For this we would generally advise taking a simple analgesic such as Paracetamol, and symptoms should resolve quickly.

  • The incidence of wrinkle-smoothing toxin resistance is low but it can happen in some cases. In some people, antibodies are generated by your immune system, which destroys the wrinkle-smoothing toxin protein after it is injected, giving no clinical effects. Unfortunately in these cases it is unlikely that any form of wrinkle-smoothing toxins will work so we would recommend alternative treatments.

  • If these treatments are performed in an expert way that expression is maintained, but the resting tension is relieved in the muscles of facial expression, this can have a beneficial effect in the longer term on the face. Less lines and wrinkles will form over time, and the effects of ageing, such as eyelid heaviness and brow furrows will take much longer to appear. Conversely, with poorly performed treatments, where all expression is obliterated and muscle wasting is induced, the natural support structure of the facial musculature is lost, which causes the face to age in a suboptimal way. It is therefore important to have treatments performed by experienced, highly trained doctors with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and it's nuances. At the Dr. David Jack clinics, we only employ and train doctors who have at least 5 years' postgraduate experience of injecting and previous surgical experience, to ensure we optimise your ageing processes and don't work against them.

  • We usually advise to avoid strenuous exercise directly after anti-wrinkle injection treatments, and would generally advise not to lie flat for a few hours' after the treatment.
